Throwback to Nobunny in November 2015

February 23, 2017

It's Thursday. You know what that means? Throwback Thursday! This NOBUNNY show is from back in November of 2015. I had no idea of the mayhem that was about to ensue in front of me. I only knew that if the performance sounded anything like the albums I would be happy. It's the type of punk/garage rock music that can pull you out of a bad mood. It can pull you out of a good mood and throw you into an even better mood. It can make your ears ring from cranking the volume so loud and your throat hurt from yelling and singing so hard, but you don't care because it's awesome. So you blast those tunes and yell the lyrics as loud as you can. It can also help you burn off a million calories from dancing and jumping around.

It was a sold out show at the
Middle East Upstairs in Cambridge, MA. The place was totally packed with excited fans. The banter and energy in the room during the two opening bands let you know that things were going to get crazy as soon as NOBUNNY started. I am only 5'2" so unfortunately going into the crowd to get photos in front of the stage was not an option for me. Instead I ventured to the side, which allowed for some awesome crowd shots. NOBUNNY is easily one of my favorite shows to experience. The lead singer, imaginator, and entertainer, Justin Champlin, dresses in a set of fuzzy bunny ears, an old rabbit mask, black tighty whities and a leather jacket. To quote NOBUNNY's bio on Facebook "The raucous rabbit's music is a intoxicating concoction of all the rights and wrongs that make up the heart and the soul of real rock n roll. Songs that sound as though they were written at the Brill building by a punk rock mutant back from the future. Some batshit brilliant bullshit." When you take this crazy, zany, mostly naked rabbit and combine it with music like that at a live show it's hard not to get sucked in. Let us also not count out the rest of the band. They do an outstanding job backing NOBUNNY full with bunny masks, ears, make up, onesies and carrots.
